Pictures really can only do a home so much justice. This home lives big for 1800 sqft. Also, I have included scenes from the island club, pool, and marina areas.

New link added at VRBO.com

Well work is still going on at the house. It is amazing all the things that have to be done to get a home, really "ready". Being in real estate, this was a good lesson, and reminder of what my customers go through all the time.
We have just put up the link onto VRBO.com, our ad can be seen at

Our goal is too have the nicest home on North Captiva, maybe it is not the biggest, and we are not "On the beach", 100 yards away is okay with me. But I haven't seen many homes that have nicer accommodations then ours.
By the way, we opted for the Dish network package, and the fastest DSL broadband wireless modem I could get. As an added bonus my guests will get FREE long distance. It always annoyed me to stay somewhere, and the times I really want to use a land line there are additional costs, sometimes really steep!
FREE Long Distance, High Speed Wireless Router, and Dish Digital in all bedrooms, and the living room. Who says you can't stay connected on vacation! Of course it would be nice not to have to work while on vacation, but I think my guest will appreciate having it "just in case"!

Well, I have not been the best at timelining the construction, but I did want to add some interior and current exterior photos. This weekend we will be building the deck under the house for golf cart storage, outdoor shower, and a grilling area.

Finally up and complete

The home is complete! The C.O. was issued, and now its time for all the fun. LOL.
Still plenty to get done. I did get the home listed on www.beachhouse.com. We decided that this home is too nice for just us. We need to share the fun.
We furnished, and finished the interior to be not only "green" but as healthy as possible. For example, we used mattress made with organic cotton, and bamboo. All appliances are energy star rated, All the paint is low VOC, the home has a continuous air exchange system tied into the HVAC system. This will ensure that the air is always fresh even when the house is closed up.
Unlike a normal house, with the SIPS system our house does not have the "leaks" that most homes have. It is so tight that the Air exchange was a requirement.

I am glad that I had done some research on appliances. Particularly on the flat panel TVs. We have one in each bedroom, and the living room. We opted for the Toshiba brand, which besides being energy star rated, it has a function that stops almost all power consumption when the TV is off. I have noticed that the "start-up" time is a little longer, who cares?

Even for pest control we opted to go to non toxic sprays, and traps, even a
fly trap!

Some photos of the construction, no order.

I thought it would be good to get these photos from the building phase out of my camera and here. Enjoy!
